Food has always been one of the highlights of travel. Discovering new cuisines and taking a break from our everyday plates makes getting on a plane even more thrilling. But it wasn’t often the point of travel — at least not to the extent it is today.

Venngage — the makers of this nifty chart below — have found that in only a matter of seven years, travelers interested in new dining experiences rose by nine percent. That might not sound like a lot, but more than one percent a year is the sign of a trend.
