A video of the storm simulation room at the QC Termemilano spa in Milan has gone viral
Spas are typically tranquil spaces, but one Italian wellness retreat is turning that notion on its head – and it has made waves on TikTok.
The QC Termemilano spa in Milan features a cinematic pool room that simulates a thunderstorm, complete with dramatic stormy sound effects.
When British bloggers Henry Purchase and Robyn Miller posted a video of the curious immersive experience on TikTok, it quickly went viral, racking up a whopping five million likes to date.
In the clip, filmed by Robyn, Henry can be seen with other bathers submerged in the pool as a sprinkler system showers them with water to simulate torrential rain and lightning strikes and storm clouds fill screens that line the walls.
Henry, 25, and Robyn, 24, who run the travel website ‘A Couple Things to Do’, tell MailOnline Travel: ‘We didn’t know what to expect when going as there was not much online, but when we arrived it was better than we could have imagined.’

The couple add: ‘We were surprised about the value for money – we had full access to the spa with lunch and drinks included for less than £44 (€50) per person.’
Reactions to the TikTok clip – which has garnered more than 24,000 comments and 112,000 shares – have been varied.
Many users have insisted they’re keen to try out the storm simulation for themselves, declaring the sound of pouring rain ‘relaxing’, whereas others have been less enthusiastic.
‘This would be a dream for me,’ wrote TikTok user Kay.
While user Tristan Woods wrote: ‘This looks fun and traumatic at the same time.’
‘Looks like pure chaos,’ added TikToker ‘Lowkeybro’.
The spa, which is housed in an Art Nouveau complex in the heart of the Italian city, also features saunas, hot tubs, a waterfall room and an outdoor pool.
The spa describes itself as a ‘multi-sensory experience’, with the base admission fee including a robe, a towel, a pair of slippers and an ‘exclusive’ aperitif.
Henry and Robyn note: ‘You can add on massages and treatments if you wish, but we found that we had plenty to do in the time we were there.’

The pair recommend plumping for the ‘wellness lunch’ at the spa, saying: ‘You got a whole hour of an all-you-can-eat buffet with hot and cold food, desserts, and bread… you can help yourself to any wine of your choice and beer on draft.’
Overall, the travel bloggers deem the spa a must-try for those visiting Milan on a budget.
They say: ‘It is such a romantic and cheap activity to do in Milan for young couples, one that you definitely don’t expect!’
QC Termemilano is part of a chain of Italian spas that launched in the 1980s, with other spas open in locations such as Rome, Turin and New York.
