So which destination is the athlete’s most memorable?

Here he talks about an unforgettable meal in San Diego, proposing to his fiancée in Arizona – and more…

Most memorable place you’ve been?

Arizona. The landscape is epic, especially the Saguaro desert with its endless cacti. It’s where I did warm-weather training and where I proposed to my fiancée.

How would you describe the people?

Very friendly and relaxed. We stay in Scottsdale and people make a point of talking to our two boys.

What do you always take? A good history book, my laptop and my Aeropress coffee maker.

Earliest holiday memory?

Skiing in La Plagne, France.

Favourite hotel?

We prefer rentals. We love Powder N Shine’s ski chalets in Reberty, France.

Most memorable meal?

Sushi at Taka in San Diego after I beat the long jump British record.

  • Greg stars in Holidaying With Jane McDonald & Friends, which is on at 9pm next Friday on Channel 5.
