Storybook-style chateau in LA with a VERY romantic history hits the market for nearly $6 million

A stunning storybook-style mansion that looks like a castle and has an equally romantic history has been listed in Los Angeles for nearly $6 million.

Known as the Chateau Lemoine, the 4,500-square-foot property is nestled in the Mid-Wilshire District’s Brookside neighborhood, just minutes from Hollywood. The whimsical home boasts four-bedroom, five baths, and a separate guest house.

From the outside, it looks like something out of a Disney movie with ivy-covered outer walls, a cobblestone facade, several turrets, and peaked roofs, but the inside is completely renovated with sleek modern touches.

The landscaping on the one-third acre lot is just as magical with mature fruit trees, cobblestone paths, and a fire pit with a carved-stone seating area.

The Arroyo De Los Jardines, a natural stream that is also known as the Brook of Gardens, runs through the backyards of the 1920s revival-style homes in Brookside, many of which have bridges.

LeMoine surprised his wife by building a chateau that resembles the manor houses in their native south of France. After she passed away, the property was sold and fell into disrepair.

In 2009, Dean Caldarelli, an architect and designer from Georgia, and Dimitri Chami, a realtor in the Los Angeles area, bought the home for $1.4 million and renovated it.

The castle in the middle of Los Angeles was later sold for $2.3 million, according to Redfin.

Nearly a decade later, it’s back on the market with The Agency for $5.99 million.
